Keep Showing Up: Stephen Vinson’s Next Chapter in the Pool

The day before Stephen Vinson celebrated losing more than 100 pounds in a year, he went swimming.

At Lakeshore Foundation, he swam 1,800 yards in just over an hour. Through his SollaWave goggles, he listened to Jenny Lawson’s How to Be Okay When Nothing Is Okay. It was his second time listening to the book.

He shared the workout with his Instagram followers under a familiar heading: day 176 of showing up for himself.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

On @keepshowingupstephen, Stephen shares workouts, weekly weigh-ins, and the goals ahead. In his October 14 update, he announced that he had passed the 100-pound weight-loss mark for 2026.

He was excited about the result. He was also proud of the effort it had taken to get there.

“This journey isn’t just about the number on the scale,” he wrote. “It’s about building consistency, staying active.”

There was another date on his calendar: December 13, when he planned to walk the Rocket City Half Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama. With 60 days to go, his next goal was already in view.

Good Company for a Long Swim

His swim the previous day offers a glimpse of that ongoing work.

For the long freestyle session, Stephen had an audiobook to keep him company and a simple way to follow his progress. He set his SollaWave goggles to announce the lap count every nine laps. Over the 72 laps he reported, that gave him eight updates.

Between announcements, he could listen to the book and swim. The session took 1:02:33.

“Anything that makes an hour in the pool more enjoyable is a win!” he wrote.

An hour of swimming is a substantial part of someone’s day. Having something you enjoy listening to can change how that time feels.

Finding His Rhythm With SollaWave

For Stephen, SollaWave brings listening and workout feedback into the same session. His goggles track the swim while the audio plays, with spoken lap-count updates at the interval he has chosen.

The detail that stands out is how he uses those features together. He has picked a book he wants to hear again and spaced the announcements around his swim. The technology fits into his routine without becoming the focus of it.

As he works toward his weight-loss and fitness goals, this is the part SollaWave can play: making his pool time more enjoyable and keeping him informed as he goes.

Sixty Days to the Start Line

By the end of his weigh-in update, Stephen’s attention was on Huntsville. There was a milestone to celebrate and a half marathon still ahead.

We’re happy to be part of his swims along the way.
